LEAGUE   DAY AT THE CAPITOL, MARCH 4, 2010.
This is traditionally a time when Leaguers from around the state gather in Topeka to learn about current legislation, meet with legislators, and re-connect with friends in other Kansas Leagues. 

Again this year we will meet in Willard Hall in the lower level of the First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison, across from the Capitol.  Don't miss this opportunity to find out what's really happening in Topeka!

9:00    Opening Remarks by LWVK President  
9:15    Joe Molina, Lobbyist for Kansas Bar Association
10:00   Paul Johnson, League Legislative Consultant
10:45   Meet with legislators, attend committee meeting
Noon   Lunch at the church 12:30   Keynote Speaker, Joan
             Wagnon, Secretary of Revenue  
1:15     Meet with legislators, attend committee meetings of choice

Cost:  $25 which includes breakfast and lunch.

Parking is not permitted in the church parking lot, but is available beneath the Capitol and on the street.

1 — State League Council in Manhattan

The League of Women Voters of Manhattan and Riley County welcomes members to the 2010 State League Council meeting in Manhattan. Details of program to be announced.

Location:  Big 12 and Flint Hills meeting rooms, Kansas State Union, Manhattan

Registration — Registration is $55 per person. Mail registration fee and name and contact information for each person you are registering to LWV MRC, PO Box 835, Manhattan KS 66506 by April 17, 2010.

Hotel Reservations — A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn at the Campus , directly across Bluemont Ave. from the K-State Union. Room rates are $99.95 plus tax for kings and doubles. To receive this discounted rate, please reserve your room by calling the hotel at (785) 539-7531 by March 30, 2010. Please mention you are attending the League of Women Voters Council Meeting. All rooms must be guaranteed by credit card. The hotel and all Manhattan restaurants and public places are non-smoking.

Parking — A brand new parking garage has opened adjacent to the Union the corner of Bluemont Ave. and 17 th St . Free public parking is available a short two block walk past McCain Auditorium and Kedzie Hall in the public lot near McCain Auditorium. Enter the lot from North Manhattan Avenue just north of Bluemont Ave.Those staying at the Holiday Inn are welcome to park in the hotel parking lot throughout the meeting.
